Christmas is very nearly upon us which means that there are now only 21 days to go before the launch of the Rickshaw Run…eek! We have all our paperwork in place (visa, international driving license, insurance), our flights are booked and we should start thinking about packing soon. The only item I have out and ready is a funnel and a length of hosepipe…a Rickshaw Run veteran advised me that this would come in useful for filling the petrol tank…It really is all getting rather real and scary.
We’re now pleased to announce our third (and last) prize giveaway. Think of it as an early Christmas present. Everyone who has donated on our JustGiving page (just click on the button on this blog) by 23:59 on Tuesday 17 December will be entered into the draw. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…we really have been completely bowled over by the generosity of our friends and family. Your overwhelming support for our crazy, reckless and dangerous adventure is deeply worrying (?!) and incredibly heart-warming at the same time.
The prize
Our final prize is a £40 voucher to dine at Babur, Zagat 2013 London’s ‘best Indian restaurant’. Located on the Forest Hill/Honour Oak/Crofton Park borders in south east London, this hidden gem of a restaurant is ‘worth the journey’ from anywhere (according to Zagat). Open since 1985, Babur is renowned for its stunning and innovative modern Indian cuisine, and particularly its sensational tasting menu. The restaurant’s stylish, earthy interior features exposed brick walls, natural wooden furniture and beautiful handmade Bengali artworks.
You may well be thinking that it’s rather unfair to all those who live north of the river (or shock horror, outside London) that both our dining vouchers have been for restaurants in areas with SE postcodes. You’re most definitely wondering…Forest Hill? Honor Oak? Crofton Park? Where on earth?
Well, get with the programme people…this is a Peckham-themed charity adventure and we are all about everything SE.
For you London folk, this restaurant cannot be easier to reach. For those from outside the big city…sorry! Claire has a spare room…why not make a weekend of it?
Babur really is worth the journey from anywhere. If you think I’m spinning you a tale in order to encourage you to donate, you may be right…so read the reviews below :-)!
Tempted? Don’t forget to donate by Tuesday 17 December!
